Plagiarism Policy

Journal of Healthcare Science and Management (JHSM) is committed to upholding academic integrity and ensuring the originality of all published works. The journal strictly prohibits plagiarism in any form.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, data, or results from other sources without proper citation

  • Self-plagiarism (reuse of significant portions of one’s own previously published work without acknowledgment)

  • Paraphrasing substantial parts of another work without proper attribution

  • Data fabrication or falsification

  • Duplicate or redundant publication

2. Similarity Check

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software before being sent for peer review.

  • Manuscripts with a high similarity index may be returned to authors for revision or rejected.

  • Acceptable similarity levels will be determined by the editorial board based on content evaluation (generally, similarity should not exceed 20%, excluding references and properly quoted text).

The editorial team evaluates similarity reports carefully to distinguish between acceptable overlap (e.g., methodology descriptions) and unethical plagiarism.

3. Actions in Case of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected:

Before Publication

  • The manuscript may be rejected immediately.

  • Authors may be asked for clarification or revision.

After Publication

  • The article may be retracted.

  • A formal notice of retraction may be published.

  • The author’s institution may be notified in cases of serious misconduct.

4. Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • All sources are properly cited.

  • Quotations are clearly indicated.

  • The manuscript is entirely original.

By submitting to JHSM, authors confirm that their work is free from plagiarism and complies with ethical publishing standards.

5. Ethical Compliance

JHSM follows ethical publishing standards consistent with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
